Head Golf Professional
Ryan Polzin, PGA
Ryan Polzin is a graduate of Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas. In 2003 he moved to Houston, taking a job as Assistant at Westwood Golf Club, where he achieved his PGA Membership in 2006. In February of 2007 Ryan accepted the position of Assistant Golf Professional at Royal Oaks Country Club. Since turning professional he has qualified for the PGA Professional National Championship twice, won the 2009 STPGA Assistants Championship, finished top 10 in the 2009 National Assistants Championship, and won the 2011 ESPN National Golf Challenge in Las Vegas. Ryan has been Head Golf Professional at Royal Oaks Country Club since May of 2010. Outside of work, he loves the Dallas Cowboys and spending time with his sons Brody and Knox, and his wife K.D.

Derek Hooper, PGA Australia
Derek Hooper grew up in Australia and graduated from the University of Queensland with a degree in Sports Science and Teaching. After graduating Derek completed his Australian PGA training and then played competitively on Australian mini Tours for a few years before returning to his true passion of teaching. Derek joined the staff of Royal Oaks Country Club after spending eleven years as the Director of Instruction of the Troon Golf Academy at Lake of Isles in Connecticut. His passion is for coaching serious players of all experience levels to understand that great golf is about more than just the golf swing, and that in order to play your best, you must reach a level of competence in each of those skills. The focus of Derek’s programs is to analyze a player's strengths and weaknesses, then design a performance plan that will improve the player’s key skills and transfer those skills to the course and into lower scores.

Michael Rodriguez, PGA
Michael Rodriguez was born and raised in Sugar Land, Texas. In 2011, he graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing. Soon after graduating Michael realized that he wanted to establish a career around the game he loves best --golf. He began his professional golf career in San Antonio before joining Royal Oaks Country Club in the summer of 2012. He is passionate about teaching golfers of all ages and skill sets.

Robert Scott, PGA
Robert Scott grew up in Sugar Land, Texas. Attending college at Lamar University, he was able to walk on to the Lamar University Golf Team. He later transferred to The University of Houston and finished his education studying electrical engineering. Through his experience competing, he developed a passion for teaching the game of golf, especially the short game. He has taught for several years, studying under various instructors to develop his own style, which is based around great fundamentals. Under Robert's tutelage complete beginners, as well as highly accomplished players, have achieved great success. He is patient and positive, yet honest. He looks forward helping each of you with your golf game!

Justin Engel, PGA
Justin Engel was born in Houston, and grew up in Sugar Land, Texas. He attended Tyler Junior College for two years, earning All American honors on the golf team during his second year. He then transferred to The University of Houston to finish up his collegiate career. He started his professional career at Pine Forest Country Club in 2012. He competed in the 2014 National Assistant Championship. He is dedicated to growing the game and helping all skill levels improve. He looks forward to meeting each ROCC Member and creating the best experience possible for them.

David Lindsey, PGA
David Lindsey was born and raised in Carrollton, Georgia. In 2014, he graduated from Mississippi State University studying PGA Golf Management while earning a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and his Class A PGA license. He began his professional golf career at Laurel Country Club in Laurel, Mississippi before moving to Squire Creek Country Club in Ruston, Louisiana. David joined the Royal Oaks Country Club team in the Spring of 2017. Passionate about running tournaments and events, he enjoys the mental aspect of the game of golf and looks forward to sharing his knowledge, skill and passion with the members.

Sadie Martinez
Sadie was born and raised in Hartford, CT. Her love for the game started at a young age thanks to The First Tee of Connecticut, of which she is an alum. Sadie's passion is to teach the next generation of golfers and to keep growing the game across all levels. Sadie is grateful and excited for all the opportunities Royal Oaks has presented to her. She looks forward to January when she will attend the PGA Level One Seminars.
 
Assistant Golf Professional
Shang-Fan Huang
Shang-Fan was born in Taipei, Taiwan. She moved to Houston in 2004 to start her junior golf career here in the United States. She earned a scholarship to play golf for the University of Texas at El Paso. During college she had numerous achievements including three-time All Conference USA second team, five-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll and she graduated with a degree in Business Marketing. After College she played on NWGA Tour and Symetra Tour. She is a member of LPGA Teaching & Club Professional since 2013 and is available for lessons and can assist all of your golfing needs.
